The 2024 annual Cruise Club Holiday Boat Parade was held on Saturday, December 14, 2024. At the end of the north canal we counted twelve boats in the line up with great participation from the Town & River community adding nicely to the starters from the club. The weather this year was not quite ideal with a fairly strong breeze and an occasional sprinkle of rain affecting the parade. However, the temperature was mild and at times a nearly full moon shown through the clouds to help light the way. At the end of the second canal, which is narrow compared to the north canal, we noticed that some participants had left the group and some were later seen waiting out in the river. It seems likely that the difficulty of navigating the narrow turns and passages caused some to do only the widest canals. Since new boats and docks are getting larger over time and the canals stay fixed, navigating the parade route has become more challenging especially for participating captains with large boats.
As always, thanks go out to all the Town & River residents who helped make this parade so much fun with their wonderful decorating and lighting displays and their warm, friendly holiday greetings all along the parade route.
