A small but enthusiastic group of members from the Town & River Cruise Club met at the Snug Harbor on September 10. It was a sunny, windy day and a brief shower hit boaters as they approached Fort Myers Beach. A guest of Commodore Fred Ford-Smith and his wife Lorraine, Peggy Mitchell, biked to the event. We sat on the open air deck and as cocktails were served the members had a wonderful time talking about their summer adventures and the upcoming boating season. Eventually, lunch orders were placed and the restaurant served us very well prepared dishes and yummy drinks.

As the group lingered to chat after lunch we had time to select winners for some gifts provided by Cecilia & Edward Bourdon, the hosts of the luncheon. Barbara Reynolds, Lyn Morningstar, Bill Haptonstall, and Ian Fischer were the lucky winners.

Ian’s arrival in our community has caused the club to shelf the original boating schedule but everyone is looking forward to participating in whatever events we can plan for the rest of this boating season. The November meeting will take place at the Lighthouse on Wednesday, November 16 at 11:30am. Unfortunately, we will be unable to boat there due to damage caused by the hurricane.
