Captiva, Fla. — Some 40 Town and River Cruise Club skippers and crew members enjoyed a Jan. 25 luncheon at the Green Flash Waterfront Restaurant.
A spectacular view of Pine Island Sound captivated everyone, many of whom arrived via member yachts including “Sal-Vation,”“Persistence,” “Ken Do” and “Angelica Rose,” the latter named for the granddaughter of our commodore, Mike DiBenedetto and his sparkling first mate, Liz DiBenedetto, who served as the event’s photographer for the event.
The cruisers also enjoyed tempting menu offerings such as calamari, buffalo chicken wings, crunchy grouper sandwiches, Philly cheesesteak, Timmy’s Nook hamburgers and more. The bloody Mary and the screwdriver were among the most popular “Day drink” thirst quenchers.
Honorata Shue won the 50/50 drawing; and a half dozen mariners knew the right answers in a “Florida man headline competition” (created by the day’s co-host, Richard Hogan).
