Where were you born: I was born in Dayton, Ohio. We have lived in Ohio our entire life.
How long have we lived in Fort Myers? We have lived here a year and a half. We had been looking off and on for a couple of years. Bill has wanted to live in the south for decades. He really disliked all the snow in Ohio. Town and River had exactly what we were looking for. It had the boat dock and view for Bill. I wanted a place that had a lot of social activities and also the view. We both wanted to find a church that we both liked. We did and its Cypress Lake United Methodist Church. I’m very involved with the church and I also work there on Sunday mornings. Town and River was the perfect place.
Bill retired from DFAS as an accountant with the government. I retired from being a Principal and teacher. We have four children, Whitney, Breyden, Garrett and Brennan. We also have 6 grandchildren. Once we both retired and the kids graduated from college it seemed like the right time to move.
How long have you been boating? Bill has been boating since he was a teenager. I started boating after we got married, 30 years ago. We boated in Meigs County, Buckeye Lake Ohio and the Caloosahatchee River. Are there any boating experiences or anything else you would like to share? When we lived and boated in Buckeye Lake Ohio I had an accident on the dock. It was dark out and it had been raining. I fell off the dock and couldn’t move because I broke 4 ribs . It was probably the most painful experience I had ever had. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I lost my purse in the water and a week later we hired a scuba diver to get it out of the muddy water. It was a relief to get it back.
What do you enjoy the most about Town and River Cruise Club? We really enjoy the people we have met, the boating and all the social activities. We have been getting involved since we got here. Bill is President of Phase 1, I help on the social committee and I’m currently Vice Commodore for the Cruise Club. We love meeting new people and enjoy trying out different restaurants.
