Town & River Cruise Club celebrated St Patrick’s Day on March 20th at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Ft. Myers. All winter we have been waiting for the perfect day to take the boats out on the Caloosahatchee River. Well, today, the first full day of Spring, was that perfect day! The river was flat, the air was crisp, and we saw some dolphins along the way.

We had 25 members and guests join us for a delicious lunch and some lively conversation. I heard some particularly rave reviews for the Lighthouse Flatbread with Shrimp, the Fried Calamari and the Shrimp Salad. The Lighthouse is always very accommodating and the service was wonderful.

Our 50/50 raffle was held and Mike DiBenedetto’s nephew, Dominic, was gracious enough to pull our winning ticket for us. The Luck of the Irish was with him today as he pulled his own winning ticket and walked away $30 richer!

Deb Haptonstall, our current Commodore, has agreed to remain in the position for one more year. We are, however, still looking for a Vice Commodore who is willing to serve with her.

If you are interested in finding out more about the position, you can contact Deb at [email protected]

Mike DiBenedetto has offered to take on the roll of Auditor for the coming year. His lovely wife, Elizabeth, will be our new photographer. She will be replacing Ed Bourdon who has served as our photographer for many, many years. Thank you, Ed, for your service to our club.

As always, the event was a great success and we look forward to seeing everyone at our Annual Meeting & Picnic on April 13th at the W. P. Franklin Lock and Dam.
