Welcome to Town & River, Fort Myers!

Town and River Estates was originally built during the 1960s and 1970s. The community, located directly on the Caloosahatchee River, is strategically located providing convenient access to all the wonders of Southwest Florida and beyond.

Since early construction, homes in the neighborhood continue to undergo improvement and updating. Many new homes are replacing the old and major renovations to existing structures is prevalent. Town and River’s housing stock is wide and varied from luxurious river front homes to significantly updated homes from early Town and River. No doubt, part of the charm of Town and River is her diversity of both homes and residents.

Examples of the types of homes in Town and River can be seen in the gallery. These homes were chosen to provide a sampling of the types of homes; canal and riverfront, lake front and off water, contemporary and seasoned.

The name of the community perfectly describes its location. Being on the river, Town and River is also located at the junction of two main arteries in unincorporated Lee County – McGregor Boulevard and Cypress Lake Drive. Historic downtown Ft Myers is a scant 7 miles northeast along the River. On the route is the historic Thomas Edison Estate and the additional home of Henry Ford. Due east on Cypress Lake Drive is the commercial shopping core with major upscale Bell Tower shops, Costco, Beals, Target and much more. Public and private schools and Florida Southwest State College are less than 1-5 miles from the community as well as a synagogues and churches of all denominations. Within walking distance are fabulous restaurants, watering holes, stores, shops, a major marina and boatyard.

Beyond lies the shopping in Coconut Point, Gulf Coast, 5th Avenue in downtown Naples, Florida Gulf Coast University, Ave Maria University and countless golf courses and beaches.

For the boater, Town and River’s position along the River affords residents direct boating access to the barrier islands and beaches of Sanibel, Captiva and FT Myers Beach – and to the immediate south, Estero Bay, Bonita Springs, Naples, Marco Island and the 10 Thousand Islands. Residents heading east on the river may stop in historic and renovated downtown Ft Myers or travel on to Lake Okeechobee and further on to Stuart, Florida and the Atlantic Ocean. It is no wonder residents enjoy fishing, swimming and cruising locally while some residents literally use Town and River as their base to travel the world. And boating service needs are easily met by the local boatyard literally a couple of canals away.

Legally structured as a “Deed Restricted Community’ Town and River retains the qualities that have made it a valuable community along the SW Florida coast. Community costs are low and the community appreciates the open nature of neighborhood.
