Greetings my fellow T&R residents. Your Board has been busy this year and I wanted to share some of the things we have done and are currently addressing for our community.

You have likely noticed the repaving of many of our streets the past few weeks. Lee County had pulled the funds for that project. Thanks to our Board – we were able to push a little harder and Lee County agreed to get started before the summer months came.

As a community on the water – we were faced with a major issue at the entrance to our channel coming in off of the river. The shoal had moved across our channel – narrowing the passage down and shallowing up the entrance – in some areas – as low as 2.5 feet. We contributed some funds along with our neighbors (Palmetto Point and Marine Max) and were able to get that channel dredged and back to normal depths.

Your Board also was able to get three of our Board members appointed to the Town and River Improvement Unit (TRIU), the tax body of the County that takes care of our signage, lawn maintenance, tree replacement, bridges, Sherriff patrolling our streets, etc. Some of these things have been neglected over the past years and we are actively involved in getting everything our taxes are supposed to be paying for accomplished.

We have a great community, and you have a very active board that are working hard to do what is needed to make our community one of the best in Ft. Myers. Our dues, as most of know, are extremely inexpensive, and most are voluntary. If you have not paid this year, I am asking you to please do so. It was out of these funds that we were able to help open our entrance channel back up.

If you are not aware – we have a neighborhood website – townandriverfl.com. It has a section for our residents submit their information to the members directory. It also allows you to pay your Dues, see financials statements, meeting minutes, deeds of restriction, Cruise Club and more. If you have not visited the site – please do so.

We are trying to make our monthly newsletter more interesting and informative for all of you. Anyone who has a story, recipe, boat topic, etc. please submit it to your Board and we will happily get it in the newsletter.

Have a safe summer!!

Best Regards,
Capt. Craig O’Donnell
