On April 11 the Town & River Cruise Club held its last event of the cruising year at Franklin Lock Park in Alva. The weather that day was beautiful, with low humidity and a cool breeze…perfect conditions for a great time. Twenty-five members attended, many of whom carpooled. No one came by boat because the dock is still not repaired since being damaged during Hurricane Ian. Mission Barbecue catered for the event and as always did an excellent job.
Deb Haptonstall facilitated word games for the party, Cecilia Bouden conducted a raffle, and members also played cornhole. Prizes for the several raffles and games included chocolate, Easter-themed gifts, and wine. The lucky winners were Ed & Cecilia Bourdon, Ken and Adrienne Bebbe, Don and Sue Sena, Marge Byrne, Ellen Marra, Chuck Williamson, Honorata Shue, Tim and Lynn Mutchler, and Liz DiBenedetto.
Commodore Mike DiBenedetto said a few words thanking the many people who have assisted in making this a great year for the club. He distributed a schedule of events for next year and requested hosts to assist in making it all happen. There will be no dues required again for the next year as the club still has adequate funds to cover its anticipated catered events for the next season.
Everyone seemed to have a great time and are looking forward to next year’s cruising season. If anyone is interested in joining the club, please contact Deb Haptonstall at 617-395-4873 or Mike DiBenedetto at 508-577-8907.
