On April 13, 2024 the Town And River Cruise Club held their annual meeting and picnic at the scenic Franklin Lock South. The event, which started at 11:30 AM, drew members together for an afternoon of camaraderie, good food, and important club business. Catered by Mission Barbeque, attendees were treated to a delicious spread that included pulled chicken, beef, brisket, hand pulled pork and a variety of sides and desserts.
Attendees socialized before the meeting playing left, right, center and an ocean themed bingo with Deb Haptonstall as the color. Winners of the games included Lynn MorningStar, Sue Sena, Pat, Deeb and Marita Pyne who all received prizes.
At 1:30 p.m., Commodore, Deb Haptonstall officially called the meeting to order. She expressed her gratitude towards the officers and members who hosted events over the past year, highlighting their efforts and fostering a successful club environment. A special moment was reserved for Ed Bourdon , who received a gift in appreciation for his long – standing service as the club’s photographer. Thank you Ed!
The election of officers was a focal point of the meeting. Nominating committee chair, Don Sena presented the new slate of officers for the upcoming term: Commodore, Deb Haptonstall, Treasurer Cecilia Bourdon, and Secretary Adrienne Beebe. Don Sena also announced new committee appointments, including himself as the chair of the Nominating Committee and Fred Ford Smith, Ken Beebe for Rules and Membership as chair and also Bill Haptonstall. Mike DiBenedetto as auditor and Liz DiBenedetto was welcomed as the new photographer, taking over from Ed.Bourdon. Telephone committee Adrienne Beebe.
Additionally, the board of governors for the upcoming season was confirmed, consisting of Haptonstall, Adrienne Beebe, Cecilia Bourdon, Fred Ford Smith, Marge Byrne, and Mike DiBenedetto who were elected unanimously. The meeting also addressed the transition of Donna Ray, due to work commitments will be stepping down as Vice Commodore, but will return as Commodore for the 2025-2026 season.
Deb Haptonstall won the 50-50 raffle.
The meeting concluded on a high note, with members looking forward to another year of engaging events and shared passions on the water. The Town and River cruise club continues to thrive thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of its members and leadership team. The meeting was adjourned at 1:39 PM.
